Getting to Know Us!

Calvary Lutheran Church was founded in 1957 as a mission congregation of the Lutheran Church in America. Upon the merger of the three major Lutheran church bodies in 1987, Calvary became a member of the Evangelical Lutheran Church in America (ELCA).

This faith community invites you to an active, Christ-centered church where you can share and grow with us in Christ's love.

As Lutherans, we believe and teach that we are saved, not by our own works, but by God's grace through faith in Christ.

Calvary Lutheran is a small, family-friendy congregation located in the west end of Belleville, IL. Our buildings are fully handicap-accessible, providing the opportunity for all people to serve and be served. Whether you are able-bodied or disabled, young or old, a life long Christian or one who is new to the faith, you will find at Calvary a place to be fed by God's Holy Word.

We worship at 10:00 on Sunday mornings. Christian education classes are offered at 9:00 a.m. The sacrament of Holy Communion is celebrated on the first four Sundays of each month. On a fifth Sunday, the Service of the Word is used. We welcome everyone to join us as, together, we journey in faith and spread the Gospel of Jesus Christ.

Calvary is served by Interim Pastor Richard Brendel and the Synodically Authorized Ministry Team of Diane Maertens, Loretta Garing, and Carol Maertens. They can be reached by calling the church office at 618-397-4989 or by email calvary@calvaryBelleville.org
