A message from our Synodically Authorized Ministers…
Our weather has been unseasonably warm and it is sure hard to believe that the holiday season is upon us already. Christmas decorations are in the stores and merchants are striving for the best advertisements to secure profit from sales in an uncertain economy. Christmas lights are appearing on the lawns of many homes. There are children who are preparing their Christmas wish lists. Some of us are wishing for a white Christmas, while others (we included) are praying for no snow and a mild winter weather season. Congregations are decorating their churches with advent décor for an atmosphere of awaiting the Christ Child. We find ourselves going in many directions during this holiday season, and it might be a beneficial idea to stop for a moment and figure where we are really going and for what reason. Is Christ at the center of our hectic days when we at times feel pulled in so many different directions? Will we have the time to take moments during this sacred season to find the New Born Child in our lives? Will our lives be any different because of the Advent and Christmas Season of 2009? The Christ Child is born anew and how will this be a meaningful experience for us? Calvary will begin advent services again this year on Wednesday evenings with soup and sandwich at 6:00 p.m. and service at 7:00 p.m. Dates are December 2nd, 9th, 16th, and 23rd. It is a great opportunity to take time to be with your faith community and spiritually prepare for Christmas. It is our prayer that this holy season be a time of spiritual fulfillment for you and your family. May the New Born Christ Child warm your heart with peace and love. Thank you for your presence in our lives for it has blessed us as gift beyond compare. Holy Christmas season to you and yours! |
